What is Blue Lotus?
Blue lotus extract powder(Nymphaea caerulea) is a psychoactive plant, also known as the blue Egyptian lotus, blue water lily, and sacred blue lily.
It has been used in traditional medicine as a natural aphrodisiac, sleep aid and anxiety reliever for thousands of years. The two main compounds responsible for the psychoactive and medicinal effects of flowers are apomorphine and nuciferine
1. Apomorphine. A psychoactive compound that acts as a dopamine agonist, which means it instills joy and euphoria. It can also help people with conditions like Parkinson's disease and erectile dysfunction to control their muscles.
2. Nuciferine. A compound thought to act as an antipsychotic that induces a sense of calm through a mechanism that is not yet fully understood. It has also been shown to improve symptoms of erectile dysfunction. Consuming blue lotus flowers may produce a slight euphoria. The most common forms of blue lotus include tea, infused wine and spirits, and products used for smoking or vaping.

Functions of Blue Lotus Extract Powder
Historically, blue lotus extract powder has been used recreationally and medicinally, with most advocates claiming that it improves sleep, reduces anxiety, helps with erectile dysfunction and acts as a natural aphrodisiac.
Although no direct research supports these claims, many suspect that these effects come from two compounds in the flower—apomorphine and nuciferine—that promote calmness and aid muscle control.
In addition, blue lotus extract powder contains antioxidants such as flavonoids, quercetin, kaempferol, and myricetin. Antioxidants promote good health by fighting free radicals that can otherwise damage your body's cells. A diet rich in antioxidants may reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity and certain types of cancer.
The best way to get antioxidants is to include a variety of antioxidant-rich foods in your diet, such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, whole grains, green tea, and coffee.
Downsides
If you're considering trying blue lotus, be sure to speak with your healthcare provider. It's also important to note that children and those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid this flower due to the lack of research on its safety in these populations.
Finally, due to its psychoactive properties, it may not be suitable for everyone and should not be mixed with other substances such as marijuana or alcohol. Do not drive or engage in other activities while eating flowers.
