Pyrethrum Extract is the main raw material for the preparation of mosquito-repellent incense, and it is an insecticidal active ingredient contained in the perennial herbaceous plant pyrethrum in the family Compositae. Pyrethrin is a yellow viscous oily liquid with a fragrant smell. Insoluble in water, soluble in many organic solvents. Unstable, decomposes in case of alkali, and decomposes in strong light or high temperature.Pyrethrin from idobio brand.

Pyrethrins, which are found in the leaves, stems and especially the flowers of pyrethrum, a plant in the daisy family, have a strong poisoning effect on insects. The flowers of pyrethrum are collected and dried, and mixed with wood chips and spices to make a fumigant, and then ignited, the pyrethrins can be emitted with the smoke, and once the flying mosquitoes come into contact with it, they will be poisoned, and this kind of fumigant is an excellent natural "mosquito incense".

Pyrethroid insecticide spectrum is relatively wide, able to kill many health and agriculture and forestry pests, the toxicity of people and other warm-blooded animals is also very small, no residual pollution of the environment. Its disadvantage is that it has poor stability to light, and it is easy to decompose and fail once it meets the sunlight irradiation, so it is only suitable for indoor use to prevent and control mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches and other health pests, and it is not suitable for spraying as a pesticide in the field.

From the 1920s, chemists on the pyrethroid extraction, separation and other research, to the 40s has basically clarified its molecular structure, it is a 3-carbon ring containing ester compounds.

Application Tips

Pyrethrins rapidly break down after application. They must be applied when target pests are present.

Pyrethrins are fast acting and cause rapid knockdown of flying insects or temporary paralysis of other insects.

They are used to flush out cockroaches, for instance, from hiding places in homes.

Insects may recover from application of pyrethrins alone and to be most effective, they need to be combined with the synergist piperonyl butoxide.

Formulations that include insecticidal soap or other insecticides may increase effectiveness.
