What is Black Ginger?

Black ginger, a kind of ginger plant, grows in tropical Asia; it is mainly distributed in northeastern Thailand. Scientifically, it is called Kaempferia parviflora, which is commonly referred to as “black turmeric” or “black ginger” in Japan. At the same time, it is known as the Krachai Dam in its native country of Thailand. It is very popular among Thais who use it as an energy booster, anti-fatigue, and aphrodisiac.

Black ginger vs. regular ginger

Black ginger looks almost the same as ordinary ginger. The only difference is that the interior of black ginger is purple.

Black Ginger extract

In addition, the active ingredients in black ginger and regular ginger are different. The functional compounds in the regular ginger extract are Gingerols and Shogaols; 5.7-Dimethoxyflavone is the vital part of black ginger extract.

They have different health benefits.

Black Ginger is a plant of the genus Zingiberaceae Kaempferia, mainly used for enhancing male sexual function, while regular ginger is primarily beneficial to treat loss of appetite, sickness, and pain. For example, you get a heavy cold in winter, ginger tea or water is extremely helpful for you to fight against cold and flu.

Black Ginger used as food

The roots of black ginger (Kaempferia parviflora or Zingiberaceae) have traditionally been used as food and folk medicine in Thailand for more than 1,000 years.

In traditional Thai medicine, black ginger has been claimed to treat allergies, asthma, impotence, gout, diarrhea, dysentery, peptic ulcer, and diabetes. It is called an energy enhancer and has an excellent nourishing effect.

Black Ginger extract benefits:

Improving Sexual Satisfaction and Erectile Dysfunction

If you have studied or used Viagra, you will find that it works through a mechanism called phosphodiesterase inhibition. Phosphodiesterase (PDE), in particular, phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5), is an enzyme that cleaves a bond in the compound cAMP and is known to mediate vasodilation in blood vessels by nitric oxide synthesis.

After these bonds break, the compound loses its function and vasodilation subsides. By inhibiting the cleavage of these bonds, the mixture continues to be in the blood for a more period and can function. Most notable is the expansion of the cavernous artery found in the penis, which translates into a stronger and longer lasting erection. Black ginger extract passes the same mechanism – PDE-5 inhibition.

However, when using black ginger as an erectile supplement, setting realistic expectations is important because it is not as useful as synthetic PDE-5 inhibitors. Drugs like Viagra and Cialis are stronger inhibitors but are also more likely to cause adverse reactions, including severe headaches (migraine is thought to be caused by vasodilatation of the scalp), nasal congestion, dizziness, and abnormal erection of the penis-you never want to experience a never-ending construction.

You may be wondering why Black Ginger has better treatment of ED than Viagra?

In addition to its PDE-5 inhibition, zingiberensis can also act on the dopaminergic system, increasing the level of this neurotransmitter 2 (by inhibiting its breakdown), which plays an essential role in normal sexual function. Among people who exhibit reduced dopamine sensitivity or levels, sexual dysfunction is widespread and cannot be repaired by the use of only vasodilators.

Its ability to increase dopamine levels can also improve your mood and help fight depression. In this sense, black ginger is regarded as superior to Viagra and other drugs because it solves the problem that the upregulation of dopamine receptors leads to a decrease in penile blood flow and arousal of sexual stimulation.

Helping reduce Phlegmonosis

Black ginger extract is also learned about to reduce Phlegmonosis. A natural molecule called luteolin found in artichokes and chamomile blocks mast cells. It has been found that a different version of luteolin, known as methoxyporphyrin, is located in black ginger; it is a more potent mast cell inhibitor.

The methoxy porphyrin and luteolin can inhibit the ability of mast cells to initiate inflammation and can block inflammation when administered before triggering the formation of mast cells.

Therefore, people with psoriasis and other skin diseases can try to use black ginger to get their therapeutic effect.

Anti-Aging Effects

Black ginger also has anti-aging effects. Some experimental results show that the effectiveness of black ginger extract in the activation of longevity genes indicates that the product has significant anti-aging effects.

It has been found that black ginger can inhibit the development of glycosylation or age associated with the destruction of brown pigment in the skin, which provides additional evidence for the benefits of anti-aging.

Good for people with diabetes

Else health benefit of Black ginger is that it provides excellent benefits for people with diabetes. It is learned about to lower blood sugar levels. For patients with type 2 diabetes and patients with obesity, the results of the experiment show that it is encouraging to use black ginger extract to inhibit fat accumulation and reduce insulin resistance. Black ginger can be eaten as a beverage or as a hard or soft capsule or tablet.

Improving Energy

Black ginger extract increases energy expenditure by activating BAT (brown adipose tissue). BAT, which is also known as brown fat, contains a large number of mitochondria, which are cell power stations. Brown fat converts energy from food to heat and then transporting the energy produced to different parts of the body.

That is one of the most exciting health benefits of black ginger is that it increases energy. It also increases energy production by activating AMPK or AMP-activated protein kinases. Caffeine similarly does this by acutely stimulating AMPK in skeletal muscle and nicotine activating AMPK.

In addition to the increased energy, black ginger extract has also been shown to increase endurance. A 2011 study showed that extracts inhibit inflammation 5, thereby increasing muscle endurance and muscle activity.

A recent study showed that black ginger extract helps increase energy expenditure by improving glucose, lactate and lipid metabolism. The breakdown of glucose, lactic acid, and lipids (or fat) helps to increase the energy production required for body function.

It is well known that an excellent metabolic rate is one of the main characteristics of healthy people. If your metabolic rate is high, you are less likely to develop obesity, metabolic syndrome, locomotive dysfunction, obesity, and diabetes.

Black ginger is not only a booster for the body’s metabolism, but also increases overall energy production, which is vital for muscle endurance and body performance, while helping to reduce fat.

The effect of black ginger extract on energy consumption ultimately helps to improve physical fitness. As we mentioned earlier, the increase in energy consumption makes your body more accessible to perform everyday activities.

Black Ginger extract side effects

From our description above, we know very well that black ginger has some significant health benefits for humans. However, it must be understood that it has minor side effects such as sweating armpits and elevated body temperature. Black ginger does not adversely affect blood pressure and does not change the hormonal balance so that hormone replacement therapy can be safely used.

Side effects of ginger include:

  • Increased bleeding tendency
  • Abnormal abdominal discomfort
  • Arrhythmia (if overdose)
  • Central nervous system depression (if overdose)
  • Dermatitis (partial use)
