Lurasidone is an atypical antipsychotic drug discovered and developed by Sumitomo Pharmaceuticals. Compared with other existing antipsychotic drugs, lurasidone has a unique chemical structure and is believed to have affinity for dopamine D2, 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT2A), and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT7) receptors, exhibiting antagonistic effects in these receptors.
In addition, lurasidone has partial excitatory effects on serotonin (5-HT1A) receptors and no significant affinity for histamine H1 or muscarinic M1 receptors.
