Introduction

Potassium methoxysalicylate can correct atypical hyperplasia, keratinization and atrophy of the epidermis, and has a significant effect on improving the keratinization process, promoting the smooth excretion of melanin; At the same time, it also promotes the increase and enlargement of transparent keratin particles, thickening of the granular layer, thinning of the stratum corneum, accelerating the layering of keratin cells, and making the skin smooth and whiter.

Potassium methoxysalicylate not only has the same effect of inhibiting melanin production as existing whitening ingredients, but also has the ability to adjust the differentiation of keratinocytes, which can improve the skin condition where melanin is prone to excessive deposition. Through human effectiveness tests, it has been confirmed that it also has excellent defensive effects against artificially induced pigmentation.

Functional characteristics

The two major effects of 4MSK on melanin

1. Inhibit melanin synthesis

An important aspect of studying whitening ingredients is undoubtedly analyzing the actual production of melanin and the inhibition of tyrosinase. Simply put, the result is that 4MSK can have a certain inhibitory effect on melanin production and tyrosinase activity in a certain concentration environment.

2. Accelerate melanin metabolism

The Shiseido research report observed the differentiation and expression of three-dimensional cultured skin models in this area, mainly focusing on the level of "doxin" in the granular layer. The results showed that UV irradiation significantly inhibited the decrease in doxin expression caused by UV irradiation on the skin model with 4MSK added. This observation indicates that from an in vitro experimental model, 4MSK and salicylic acid have certain functional similarities and can promote smooth metabolism of melanin.
