Boswellin is a glycoprotein mixture derived from xylose.
Xylose is found in large quantities in the beech tree and has the ability to promote the production of glucosaminoglucans, or mucopolysaccharides (GAGs). Boswellin, which is derived from beech trees, acts in a similar way to xylose.
Hydroxypropyl tetrahydropyrantriol is also a nonionic surfactant with good dispersing and emulsifying properties, so initially, low concentrations of boswelliazide were also used as emulsifiers or dispersants in skin care products.
